Boardman man gets probation
YOUNGSTOWN — Dean J. DeMain, 52, of Orlo Lane in Boardman, a former Youngstown State University police dispatcher, was sentenced Thursday in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court to one year of probation.
DeMain pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count each of unauthorized use of the Law Enforcement Agencies Database and unauthorized use of a computer, cable or telecommunications property.
DeMain was indicted on two felony counts of the same offenses, but the charges were reduced in his plea agreement.
The charges stemmed from 2018, when he used the database to look up information on women while at work, according to prosecutors. Judge Maureen Sweeney handed down the sentence.
