Youngstown man arrested following attempted abduction

Niles woman says 49-year-old tried to handcuff her

NILES — A Youngstown man is facing abduction charges, accused of trying to handcuff a woman in her home Saturday afternoon.

Niles police responded to a house in the 300 block of North Chestnut Avenue around 3:45 p.m. for reports that a man attempted to handcuff the woman.

A police report states that the 50-year-old woman let Jeffrey Husk, 49, into her house, as he claimed to be looking for the woman’s niece.

While talking with Husk, the woman reportedly turned her back to him to clean off her chair. When she turned around, the woman told officers that she felt Husk lean over her back and attempt to place a handcuff on her right wrist. The woman was able to escape and shove the man away.

The woman told officers that Husk told her: “You need to go somewhere with me.” The report states that the woman told Husk to leave and that she was calling police. Husk left the home and drove away.

At 5:25 Saturday, Youngstown police located Husk and arrested him, transporting him to the Trumbull County jail.

The woman sustained minor injuries to her right wrist, where Husk is accused of trying to place the handcuff. The report states that the woman believed Husk intended to harm her.

Husk is facing abduction charges and his next court date will be in Niles Municipal Court on Wednesday.
