60-year-old pleads guilty to drugs, weapons charges
YOUNGSTOWN — An investigation that turned up large amounts of cocaine and fentanyl in multiple homes on Youngstown’s South Side plus more than $1 million cash has led to a guilty plea in federal court.
Vincent Barber, 60, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Cleveland this week to conspiracy distributing controlled substances and possessing a firearm, in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
Barber will be sentenced at 11 a.m. Oct. 17.
Barber’s charges followed a probe that turned up the drugs in multiple homes on Youngstown’s South Side.
A federal grand jury indicted Barber and Ramon Wright on multiple charges.
Wright, whose age is not available, has never been arrested in the case and remains at large, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office for the Northern District of Ohio.
Barber, 59, was booked into the Mahoning County jail in April, according to jail records.
CASH AND DRUGS
Barber and Wright are alleged to have possessed about $1.3 million in cash.
Their indictments alleged they and others conspired to possess with the intent to distribute, and to distribute cocaine, cocaine base, fentanyl and heroin from about February 2018 to about February 2019.
The indictments and court documents further state:
