Two seminarians to be ordained
YOUNGSTOWN — Seminarians Kevin Bertleff and William Wainio will be ordained Saturday morning at St. Columba Cathedral near downtown.
The two will be ordinated at 10:30 a.m. by Bishop David J. Bonnar, making them deacons for the Diocese of Youngstown.
The new deacons will be assigned to serve in diaconal ministry at a diocesan parish while they finish their final year of seminary studies at the St. Mary Seminary and School of Theology in Wickliffe. Their assignments will be announced at the ordination. Upon finishing, they will be ordained into the priesthood.
Bertleff, son of John and Kathleen Bertleff, is from St. Robert Bellarmine Parish in Cortland. He attended Lakeview schools and is a graduate of the University of Mount Union in addition to his current studies.
William Wainio, son of Anthony and Cynthia Wainio, is from St. Angela Merici Parish in Youngstown. He attended St. Luke School in Boardman, Ursuline High School in Youngstown and is a graduate of Youngstown State University.

Another ordination will take place at 10:30 a.m. June 17 for Deacon Robert England, Deacon John Rovnak and Deacon Frederick Schlueter to be ordinated into the priesthood.
