Three suspects to be arraigned in gunfire episode

YOUNGSTOWN — Three city men are in the Mahoning County jail charged with four counts each of complicity to felonious assault.

They are charged in a Monday afternoon incident involving gunfire on West Ravenwood Avenue on the South Side.

A fourth city man, who also is charged with four counts of complicity to felonious assault, remains at large.

Tilden L. Johnson, 21, of West Evergreen Avenue, Tyre D. Washington, 19, of St. Louis Avenue and Labreilan M. Wilson, 19, of Cornell Avenue, are the three men in custody.

All three are set for arraignment today in Youngstown Municipal Court. The fourth man, who is not in custody, is 24 of St. Louis Avenue.

The lengthy police report states officers were called to West Ravenwood for a 3:08 p.m. fight with gunfire. On their way to Ravenwood, officers learned that a Chevrolet Malibu that was involved fled the scene and had been detained by Mill Creek Park police on West Newport Drive not far away from West Ravenwood.

A witness said the person who did the shooting fled the vehicle into the woods when the car came to a stop. The three men in the Malibu were detained by police.

Police were advised that the three men in custody had picked up the fourth man on Newport Drive and went to West Ravenwood, where the fourth man put on a ski mask and fired out of the front passenger car window.

Officers learned that the fourth man had left in a Chrysler Sebring after a witness advised police that the Sebring was not involved, according to the police report. All three suspects told police they did not know the fourth man was going to fire a gun.

Police used social media to determine the identity of the fourth man and determined he was in the Chrysler Sebring that left the area. Police recovered a driver’s license and concealed carry permit for the fourth man.

The victim of the gunfire, a woman, told police she was leaning into a car on West Ravenwood containing her 3-month-old child when someone in the Malibu shot at her car, which was struck. Officers found one spent shell casing in the street near her car, which was parked in the street.

Officers also found three more spent shell casings a short distance away on West Ravenwood. A witness told police a second person in the car also was shooting from a back passenger window. The witness provided a video.
