CHURCH WOMEN UNITED: Church Women United of Youngstown will host its May Friendship Day Celebration at 10:30 a.m. today at Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4580 Canfield Road. The theme is "Labor of Love: A Heart of Care." Registration is at 10 a.m. with a $15 donation requested for the program and materials.
MUSICAL CELEBRATION: Beulah Baptist Church, 523 Griffith St., Youngstown, will host a "Back Home Musical" at 6:30 p.m. today and mark its 100th anniversary at 11 a.m. Sunday during worship. Former church choir members are invited to attend.
HONOR CHOIR: Mount Jackson Presbyterian Church, 129 Mount Air Road, New Castle, Pa. will honor its choir and trio during 11 a.m. worship Sunday. Pastor Don Aull also will highlight the ministry to children that Fred Rogers had on television for many years.
SPRING CONCERT: The McKinley Community Church, 1524 Elm Road, Warren, will have the McKinley Community Church Band and vocalists present a spring concert at 10:30 a.m. Sunday in place of the regular worship service. Music will be presented by members of three churches.
MOVIE SHOWING: Leavittsburg Baptist Church will show the movie "Amazing Love: The Story of Hosea" at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
PASTORAL RECOGNITION: Valley Missionary Baptist Church, 405 Depot St., Niles, will celebrate Pastor Larry Scott and first lady Flora Scott's 34th pastoral anniversary at 11 a.m. Sunday. Guest speaker is Pastor James Bowie of Greater Friendship Baptist Church, Youngstown.
MEMORIAL DAY MASS: Christ the Good Shepherd Parish in Campbell will have a Memorial Day Mass at 9 a.m. May 29 at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, 3900 Villa Marie Road, Lowellville. The Mass will be in the chapel.
MEMORIAL SERVICE: The Catholic Diocese of Youngstown is hosting a memorial service for miscarried or stillborn children at 2 p.m. Sunday in Youngstown. The service will take place in the chapel at Calvary Cemetery, 248 Belle Vista Ave., Youngstown. Parents, grandparents and other relations of any child lost to miscarriage or stillbirth are encouraged to attend. The service is sponsored by the Diocese of Youngstown's Office of Worship, Office of Pro-Life, Marriage and Family Life, and Catholic Funeral and Cemetery Services.
GUEST SPEAKER: Christian author / evangelist Tony Ross will be the guest speaker at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. May 28 at Shiloh Full Gospel Church, 1310 Shannon Road, Girard. The visit is part of Ross' spring / summer ministry tour.
Ross wrote the book "All the Way Home" about his experiences in Vietnam during his two tours when he was in the Army. His follow-up, "Overcoming the Beast: PTSD" focuses on his battle with PTSD and how God healed and delivered him.
He served on the Apostolic Board of AIM (Antioch International Ministries), which was founded by the late Jim Erb.
46TH ANNIVERSARY: The Mighty Golden Wonders will celebrate its 46th anniversary at 5 p.m. Sunday at Phillips Chapel COGIC, 3903 Jacobs Road, Hubbard. FIRST FRIDAY: The First Friday Club of Greater Youngstown speaker series season will host the Rev. Monsignor John Zuraw, a native of Campbell, who will present "Challenges of Being a 21st Century Christian" 11:30 a.m. June 1 at Avion on the Water Banquet Center, 2177 W. Zuraw graduated from Ursuline High School. He attended Youngstown State University and earned a bachelor's degree in history from the Pontifical College Josephinum, Columbus, and in 1987 earned a master's degree in divinity from Mount Saint Mary Seminary, Cincinnati. In 1987, Zuraw was ordained a priest by Youngstown Bishop James Malone.

HUBBARD CONCERT: Hubbard First Presbyterian Church, 22 Westview Ave., will host the Simple Gifts Choir at 4 p.m. Sunday. The cantata is titled "Our Father. A Journey Through the Lord's Prayer." The one-hour program will feature the 55-voice choir, which will present both traditional and contemporary hymns. Admission is free but a free-will offering will be accepted for disaster assistance for earthquake recovery assistance in Turkey and Syria.
ISRAEL 75TH: The Youngstown Area Jewish Federation will host a celebration of the 75 years of Israel's independence from 3 to 10 p.m. Sunday at the Jewish Community Center, 505 Gypsy Lane, Youngstown. Participants will learn about Israel's diversity, food, art, technological advances, and take part in games and activities.
WOMEN'S WEEKEND: Trinity Baptist Church, 235 Highland Ave. SW, Warren, will host Women's Weekend today and Sunday. The theme is "Christian Women Under Construction" with a prayer brunch 9:30 a.m. to noon today and Women in White at 3 p.m. Sunday. Guest speaker is Sister Phyllis Bolling of Valley Baptist Church of Farrell, Pa.

BLESSING OF BABIES: Second Baptist Church "A House of Hope," 1510 Main Ave. SW in Warren, will host its annual citywide baby blessing and shower at 10 a.m. May 28. The annual event was suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic but is being revived to serve the families of Warren and surrounding communities.
During the morning worship service, Pastor Todd Johnson will offer prayer and blessing over babies and children up to age 5. Parents will receive a Blessing Certificate and have an opportunity to take a family photo. Children between the ages of 2 and 5 will receive special gift bags. After the service, a city-wide baby shower will be hosted by First Lady Shameika Johnson and the ladies of Second Baptist for expectant parents and parents of babies up to 1 year. Attendees of the baby shower will have the opportunity to enjoy food, activities, receive a family care package, and be entered into raffles for various prizes.

LABYRINTH RETURNS: The Ursuline Education and Wellness Center, 4280 Shields Road, soon begins its 13th year of labyrinth walks. While the labyrinth is open year-round, themed and guided labyrinth walks are offered by trained facilitators during the warm-weather season. Each walk is led by a different facilitator, either an Ursuline Sister or associate, with the meditation centering on a related theme. This year's overarching theme is compassion, a virtue central to the programs of Ursuline Sisters Mission.
All people of faith are invited to these free, weather-permitting events. Walks last about a half hour.
This year's schedule begins 2 p.m. Sunday with Compassion as a Way of Life. The labyrinth is open dawn to dusk. There is no cost to use the labyrinth, which is handicapped- accessible with ample parking. Printed guides are provided at the labyrinth's entrance giving suggestions for following the path, but there is no right or wrong way to experience the sacred walk.
