WHAT: City council meeting Monday

PRESENT: Bill Williams, Bonnie Viele, Robin Zambrini, Michael J. Mogg, Cathy Cummings, Jerome C. Crowe, Michael E. Kerr, Ryan M. Hallapy and Mayor Ben Kyle

Council:

• Announced the names of Purple Heart veterans from Hubbard city and township are being taken at the mayor's office, where a form is available by calling 330-534-3090. The veterans will be named at the dedication of the Purple Heart Veterans Memorial Bridge at a ceremony set for 9 a.m. June 3. The local Veterans of Foreign Wars is also working to get names of local residents;

• Were informed that Richardson Tree Service is scheduled to remove the trees at Jones Park;

• Heard from Mogg that the joint fire district has $25,000 in back fees due from hazardous materials cleanup done by the fire department, with some of the bills going back 10 years. Mogg said the matter was turned over to the district's attorney, Chip Comstock;

• Heard from Mogg of plans to advertise for restroom renovations at the fire department;

• Announced mosquito spraying is set for Tuesday, and June 20, July 26 and Aug. 22.

WHAT: City council meeting Monday

PRESENT: Bill Williams, Bonnie Viele, Robin Zambrini, Jerry Crowe, Cathy Cummings, Ryan Hallapy, Mike Mogg, Mike Kerr and Mayor Ben Kyle

Council:

• Set the Memorial Day ceremony for 10 a.m. May 29 at Union Cemetery and then to the war memorial. The dedication of the Purple Hearts Veterans Memorial bridge will be at 9 a.m. June 3. The bridge is located next to the old Stiver's Chevrolet business;

• Heard from Mogg the joint fire district has been discussing the need for a levy on the ballot in November.

• Heard from Crowe of plans to seek Issue 2 funds through the Ohio Public Works Commission for street paving in 2024. Officials said a decision to contract with the county engineer for the 2023 street paving has saved $56,000 as estimates are cheaper;

• Approved Electric Inc. for the Creed Avenue booster station generator project;

• Heard from Cummings several residents have expressed interest in pickleball courts at the park;

• Set mosquito sprayings for May 23, June 20, July 26, and Aug. 22, weather permitting.
