WHAT: City council meeting Monday

PRESENT: Reynold Paolone, Thomas Grumley, Mark Standohar, Jeff Kay, Lily Martuccio, John Moliterno, Sam Zirafi, Keith Schubert and Mayor Jim Melfi

Council:

• Heard from Safety / Service Director Jerry Lambert that the city is looking at getting a salt storage building at $85,000 and a mausoleum for the cemetery at $275,000. He said costs and funding are being reviewed for both buildings before a final decision is made;

• Heard from Auditor Julie Coleman that police camera collections are at $121,429 through April with 58 percent of the monies collected to the general fund, 18 percent to streets and 14 percent to recreation. Treasurer Mark Zuppo said income tax collections are at $1.689 million through April compared to $1.585 million in April 2022;

• Heard from Dominic and Linda Petrarca of East Kline Street of problems with a neighboring property where the owner has allowed trash and junk to pile up, including rotting materials and lumber. They asked council for assistance. Law Director Brian Kren said he will check on what zoning violation charges can be filed;

• Heard from Mayor Jim Melfi that he is looking into the cost for a large informational sign for the city for those motorists coming into the community.
