WHAT: Board of Education meeting May 17

PRESENT: Traci deCapua, Nader Atway, Matt Campbell, Bob Smallwood and Dave Wilkerson

The board:

• Honored Rotary Club's students of the month for April, including Alexa Schmidt, senior at Canfield High School; Sabrina Baskett, eighth-grade student at Canfield Middle School; fourth-graders Angelo Crisucci of C.H. Campbell Elementary and Victoria Takas of Hilltop Elementary;

• Approved unpaid parental leave for high school mathematics teacher Jacquelyn Ehko. The leave for Ehko will follow six weeks of paid sick leave beginning about mid -October and last through the 2023-24 school year;

• Approved transfer of tutors Ashley Rupp from Hilltop to Title 1 tutor at the middle school and Nikki Tuchek from C.H. Campbell to intervention tutor at the middle school;

• Hired Jimmy Gossett as full-time high school head custodian at a pay rate of $19.61 per hour effective May 22;

• Approved transfers of the following classified employees: Mike Jones from C.H. Campbell custodian to high school custodian, effective March 27; Melissa Moon from high school custodian to C.H. Campbell custodian, effective March 27, and Jeff Stewart from special needs aide to high school custodian, effective June 1;

• Approved the voluntary resignation of Jason Boyle as custodian;

• Hired Carol Young as 2023 elementary summer school teacher at a pay rate of $35 per hour;

• Approved classified substitutes Tammy Graber-Franklin and Alexis Village.
