Liberty board approves pay increase for superintendent

LIBERTY — The Liberty Board of Education this week approved a pay increase for School Superintendent Andrew Tommelleo effective Aug. 1.

Officials said with the 2.95 percent increase, Tommelleo’s salary will be $94,922 for the 2023-24 year.

The board also named Brian Knight as high school principal for grades seventh to 12th on a 260-day contract at $88,978.

His three-year contract is effective Aug. 1 through July 31, 2026. Knight has been working on a one-year supplemental contract for the 2022-23 year as a high school principal support at $5,000,

The board also received an update from Kevin Butler of Tremco Roofing on the high school roofing project. The new roof project with contractor Triangle Roofing will begin in June at $1.332 million,

Treasurer Maureen Lloyd said the project, which is set to be completed by early August, is being covered by ESSER funds and American Rescue Plan funds.
