Awards honor Valley’s most creative students

HOWLAND — The Trumbull County Educational Service Center hosted its annual student art show at the Medici Museum in Howland with an awards assembly April 26.

• Juror’s Award — The award is a recognition given by the panel of jurors, who consider the artwork from any category to be outstanding and deserving of special recognition.

First place — Delaney Grubbs of Niles; second place — Abigail Dority of Maplewood; honorable mention — Meliah Persino of Lakeview; Clea Kelm of Newton Falls; Aubrey Panigall of Hubbard; Riley Quiggle of Howland; MaKenna Bartram of Lakeview; Samantha Calderone of John F. Kennedy; Holden Hanzel of Newton Falls; Riley Jennings of Joseph Badger; Delaney Kolat of Joseph Badger; and Mia DelGarbino of Joseph Badger.

• Digital Award — The award celebrates the intersection of technology and art and acknowledges artists who incorporate digital media, such as digital painting, graphic design or photography, in their creative process.

First place — Hana Ali of Howland; second place — Devon Rexroad of McDonald; third place — Emma Patchin of Champion; honorable mention — Logan Tringhese of Hubbard; William Morrison of Howland; and Victoria McMurray of Howland.

• 3D Award — The award honors art showing high technical ability, creativity and originality. Three-dimensional art and media take up space characterized by height, width and depth.

First place — Bryce Barnhart of Newton Falls; second place — Lilly Perry of Newton Falls; third place — Piper Johannsmeier of Newton Falls; honorable mention — Rachel Clark of Lakeview.

• Scholarship winner — The Love Life Foundation, a component fund of the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley, was established in memory of Jarrett Hutton. This $500 scholarship is awarded to a Trumbull County high school.

• People’s Choice — This year, each school district was allowed to submit a piece to enter into the People’s Choice Award, and more than 5,000 votes were cast. First place went to Evermore Halie Shiley of McDonald High School.

• Best in Show — This award recognizes the artist whose work demonstrates exceptional skill, creativity and originality, and that stands out as the most outstanding piece among all the artworks exhibited in the show.

First place — Sierra Roy of Hubbard; second place — Brendal Ballentine of Warren; third place — Chandler Burbridge of Lordstown; honorable mention — Olivia Madura of Niles.
