35-year-old indicted in child sex case

YOUNGSTOWN — Juan L. Rivera Jr., 35, who is in the Mahoning County jail, was indicted Thursday on five counts of rape and three counts of gross sexual imposition.

If convicted of any of the rape charges, Rivera could get a life prison sentence.

The alleged rapes occurred May 30, 2022, to March 28 of this year in Youngstown and involved a child. The other alleged offenses occurred during nearly the same time frame and involved the same child, according to Rivera’s indictment.

Rivera initially was arraigned on multiple rape and gross sexual imposition counts April 5 in Youngstown Municipal Court. He has been in the jail since April 4, according to jail records.

Also indicted Thursday were:

• Joseph W. Haskins-Dawson, 26, East Midlothian Boulevard, fentanyl-related compound possession with a major drug offender specification, firearm specification, and specification of forfeiture of money in a drug case; cocaine possession with a firearm specification and specification of forfeiture of money in a drug case; having weapons while not allowed; improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle; three counts of aggravated drug possession with specifications of forfeiture of money in a drug case and firearm specifications; drug possession with a firearm specification; obstructing official business, and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia with a specification of forfeiture of money in a drug case;

• Akira D. Boatwright, 24, Lakeview Avenue, fentanyl-related compound possession, ocaine possession and aggravated drug possession, all with a specification of forfeiture of money in a drug case;

• Renea M. Jenkins, 30, Parkcliffe Avenue, fentanyl-related compound possession, cocaine possession and aggravated drug possession, all with a specification of forfeiture of money in a drug case;

• Nicholas A. Calloway, 44, Wilma Avenue, having weapons while not allowed, tampering with evidence, fentanyl-related compound possession and cocaine possession, both with a firearm specification and specification of forfeiture of money in a drug case;

• Armond L. Frazier, 24, Norwood Avenue, failure to comply with the order of a police officer with a firearm specification, having weapons while not allowed, improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, cocaine possession with a firearm specification, vandalism and obstructing official business;

• Onesty U. Jackson, 26, Willis Avenue, fentanyl-related compound possession, cocaine possession and drug possession, all with a firearm specification;

• Ben J. Hawkins, 18, Hawthorne Street, receiving stolen property, failure to stop after an accident, failure to stop after an accident involving the property of others and obstructing official business;

• Edward D. Flowers, 18, cocaine possession with a firearm specificaiton, improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle and contributing to the delinquency of a child;

• Danny Daviduk, 44, Mahoning County jail, two counts of escape;

• Jermaine L. Akins, 43, Mahoning County jail, domestic violence;

• Tameka Kennedy-Nash, 44, Mahoning County jail, having weapons while not allowed;

• Jamal A. Finley, 45, Mahoning County jail, burglary, intimidation, assault, harassment with a bodily substance, obstructing official business and drug possession.
