WEDDING ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION: The Diocese of Youngstown will host a wedding anniversary celebration at 2 p.m. May 7 at St. Columba Cathedral in Youngstown to honor 25, 40, 50 and other year wedding anniversaries. The event will include Mass with Bishop David Bonnar. Couples planning to attend must make a reservation in advance by contacting the parish’s office since there is limited space. One or both spouses must be Catholic. A second wedding anniversary celebration will take place Oct. 15 at the Basilica of St. John in Canton.
HONOR MOTHERS: Mothers will be honored with prayer services in the chapels of the Youngstown Diocesan Cemeteries at 10 a.m. May 13. Families will receive a flower that will be blessed and laid in front of the Blessed Mother Statue in remembrance of mothers. JOURNEY TO HOLY LAND: Vienna United Methodist Church Pastor Sam Mohn will give a free presentation on his recent Holy Land journey at 2 p.m. Sunday at the church. Mohn traveled to the Holy Land with a group of clergy from Ohio.

The service will be in thanksgiving for St. Michael Church, which was merged with St. Ambrose Parish in 2021 and closed in 2022, following consultation with parishioners and the diocese’s priest council. The St. Michael statue will be moved into the nave of St. Ambrose Church.
FIRST SUNDAY SPEAKER: First Presbyterian Church will have guest speaker Dr. Anthony Montevideo at 11:15 a.m. May 7. Montevideo is a case manager with Niles Treatment Services, Pinnacle Treatment Services. The event is an addiction awareness program. He received his doctorate of dental surgery in 1994 from The Ohio State University. He was the dental director at Trumbull County Jail and at CCA Prison from 1999 to 2003. Montevideo was outreach director and assistant men’s director at the Warren Family Mission from 2010 to 2012 and Outreach Director, Western Michigan Teen Challenge, 2013 to 2015. He will educate those with Substance Use Disorder and assist in giving individual’s hope on their recovery journey and address the issue of “stigma” involved with those individuals diagnosed.

FIRST FRIDAY CLUB: The First Friday Club of Greater Youngstown will feature Tony Agnesi on May 4. Agnesi is a 57-year veteran of the broadcast industry and a member of the Radio and Television Hall of Fame.
He is the senior vice president of the Rubber City Radio Group in Akron and is the author of three best-selling novels. His blog, Finding God’s Grace in Everyday Life, was named one of the top 100 Catholic blogs worldwide. Agnesi is a member of the Catholic Writers Guild and is a frequent contributor to Christian publications.
Agnesi will present “Be Someone’s Angel” at 11:30 a.m. May 4 at Avion on the Water Banquet Center, 2177 W. Western Reserve Road, Canfield.

There will be a program for people who once belonged to the parish and it is being held in thanksgiving for the parish that served many Polish families and others of the area from 1902 to the closing in 2021. The program will include a short video history of the parish, a report on parish archives and will include the distribution of materials from the church including those that relate to the Polish cultural.

DINING HALL OPEN: The Mahoning County District of St. Vincent de Paul has reopened its dining hall due to the impact of the power outages in the area. With electricity restored, the hall will reopen and serve members of the community.

Palm Sunday of the Passion of the Lord Mass will be celebrated 4 p.m. today and 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Palms will be blessed and distributed at each Mass.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation will be available at St. Columba Cathedral at 1 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. Mass of Holy Chrism on Holy Tuesday begins 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.

On Good Friday, the Passion of the Lord and Veneration of the Cross Service will be at 3 p.m. During this service is the annual collection for the Holy Land, which helps preserve the holy places of Christ’s homeland and helps alleviate the suffering of the poor of every faith in the Holy Land.
On Holy Saturday, the Blessing of the Easter Food is at 3 p.m. April 8. The Easter Vigil will take place at 8 p.m.
UNITY CENTER: Unity Church Center in Liberty will host Palm Sunday service 10 a.m. Sunday; Maundy Thursday, 7 p.m. Thursday; and Easter Sunday, 10 a.m. April 9.
CENTER PROGRAM: Villa Maria Education and Spirituality Center, 2067 Evergreen Road, Villa Maria, Pa., will offer Zentangle with Paulette Kirschensteiner 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 22.
Zentangle is an easy-to-learn, relaxing and fun way to create images by drawing structured patterns. Cost is $55. Program information and registration are available at vmesc.org or call 724-964-8886.
