WHAT: Trustees meeting Tuesday

PRESENT: Wendy DiBernardi, Dave Tomaino and Edward Villone

Trustees:

• Approved the police department's purchase of ammunition totaling $4,000. The purchase is made through a vendor and will cover the department's ammunition needs for the remainder of the year. With state contracts going up, police Chief Charles Van Dyke said he was trying to secure it before the contract is released;

• Approved the police department's request to have two officers sent to a two-day school in September to be trained in running an evidence room because of the high amount of liability that comes with the room. The cost is $765 for two officers;

• Approved the hiring of Rick Morrison to take care of the township's mowing services for the remainder of the year. The total expense for the mowing is $16,380 if all properties are to be mowed 26 times, but the amount of mowing done is dependent on the weather;

• Accepted the resignation of zoning commission alternate member Steve DeGenaro after a year of service;

• Approved the tentative purchase of tools from a fire department near Columbus after equipment vendor All American Fire Equipment reported they were selling their used ones. The purchase will total $18,000, and fire Chief Harold Maynard intends to inspect the tools prior to purchase;

• Passed a resolution to proceed with the demolition of 17970 Mahoning Ave. The property owners have 60 days to demolish the vacant home themselves or the township will do so and assess the cost as a tax lien on the property;

• Approved permanent appropriations totaling $2.3 million for the year;

• Accepted the quote of $850 for the Bureau of Workers' Compensation group retrospective rating program;

• Mandated sexual harassment prevention training for all township employees, per the recommendation of the township's risk management insurance. The training will take place on May 22 at 6 p.m.;

• Passed a resolution from the prosecutor's office to vacate Anchor Way. Property owners with land connecting to it will be given an unknown amount of land.
