Liberty man sent to prison for bar fight

WARREN — A Liberty man pleaded guilty Thursday to a charge of felonious assault connected to a May 6 bar fight in Warren.

Joshua L. Wauer, 37, of Sampson Drive, was sentenced by Trumbull County Common Pleas Court Judge Ronald J. Rice to serve two to three years in state prison.

Prosecutors agreed to ask for the minimum sentence in exchange for Wauer’s guilty plea. He could have faced a maximum of eight to 12 years.

Wauer also agreed to pay $2,000 restitution to the victim, a 22-year-old Howland man.

A police report states Warren officers responded around 12:45 a.m. to the Central Social Bar, 1171 W. Market St., to investigate a large fight. They were told the aggressors had fled. Meanwhile, five people who were injured were attended to by paramedics and one, the Howland man, was taken to the emergency room at St. Joseph Warren Hospital. Two other victims also had to be hospitalized.

The Howland man was knocked unconsicous and sustained a broken jaw, prosecutors stated.

Wauer, who was arrested and charged July 22, has been in the Trumbull County jail without bond since Oct. 12.
