Lance D. Derrick is sentenced to 7 years in child porn case

YOUNGSTOWN — Lance D. Derrick, 35, of Red Fox Run in Boardman, was sentenced to seven years in prison Tuesday after pleading guilty earlier in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court to seven counts of pandering obscenities involving a minor or impaired person.

Judge Anthony Donofrio handed down the sentence.

Derrick received the sentence recommended by prosecutors. Eight additional counts of pandering obscenities were dismissed in exchange for Derrick’s guilty plea.

Derrick was arrested in early August after Boardman police, the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation executed a search warrant at his home. The investigation was prompted by a tip from BCI’s Crimes Against Children Unit, according to Boardman police Chief Todd Werth.

During the investigation, over 1,000 images depicting child pornography were found on two cell phones, prosecutors said. Derrick was taken from the courtroom to begin his sentence.
