23-year-old indicted in West Side slaying of man, woman

YOUNGSTOWN — Mikese E. Stevens, 23, was indicted Thursday on two counts of murder, each with a gun specification,.

He is suspected in the Dec. 20, 2022, shooting deaths of Kimberly A. Kalasky, 41, and Joseph L. Sanders, 51, in a home in the 1900 block of Cherry Hill Avenue on the West Side.

If convicted, Stevens could get 18 years to life in prison on each count.

Stevens has been in the Mahoning County jail since Dec. 28 — one day before he was charged in Youngstown Municipal Court with two counts of murder.

According to a Youngstown police news release, Kalasky and Sanders were “shot to death within the home.” When police and ambulance personnel entered the home, an officer observed dried blood near both people and spent bullet shell casings.

The victims were on the floor of the living room. No signs of forced entry were found at the home, the report stated.

Police announced Dec. 28 they had arrested Stevens, who had been an acquaintance of Kalasky. Police detectives and crime scene personnel recovered a firearm they believed to be the murder weapon, the release stated.

Others indicted Thursday are:

• Michael A. Faioloa Jr., 38, Lynn Avenue, Poland, having weapons while not allowed, improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, fentanyl-related compound possession with a gun specification, aggravated drug possession with a gun specification and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia;

• Jeffrey R. Burke, 28, Mahoning County jail, vandalism, tampering with coin machines, possessing criminal tools and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia;

• John N. Lee, 56, Straley Lane, passing bad checks and grand theft;

• Dominique Lucky, 34, South Hazelwood Avenue, improper handling of firearms in a motor vehicle;

• Matthew S. Burns, 50, Mahoning County jail, breaking and entering, two counts of vandalism, and single counts of theft, possessing criminal tools, aggravated drug possession and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia;

• Quentin L. Boone, 28, Columbus, fentanyl-related compound possession with a specification of forfeiture of money in a drug case, tampering with evidence, obstructing official business and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia with a specification of forfeiture of money in a drug case;

• Da’Qwann R. Henderson, 25, Mahoning County jail, failure to comply with an order of a police officer, cocaine possession with a specification of forfeiture of money in a drug case, fentanyl-related compound possession with a specification of forfeiture of money in a drug case and obstructing official business;

• Samuel R. Malmisur, 38, Mahoning County jail, robbery;

• Ralph J. Nespeca, 57, Erskine Avenue, Boardman, cocaine possession and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia;

• Leland D. Love, 21, Mahoning County jail, having weapons while not allowed and improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle;

• Deborah Gerardino, 62 East Philadelphia Avenue, tampering with records and falsification;

• Juan D. Jordan, 32, Willis Avenue, domestic violence.
