WARREN ­- The Youngstown woman accused of causing more than $11,000 worth of damage to the historic Trumbull County Courthouse pleaded guilty on Monday in that very courthouse.

Joanna McCane, 44, of West Ravenwood Avenue, was in Trumbull Common Pleas court on a fourth-degree vandalism charge. At sentencing at a later date, McCane could be sentenced to a maximum of 18 months in prison.

McCane was accused of causing damage to the courthouse on Nov. 27, 2021, the day she was released from an overnight stay at the county jail across the street.

Surveillance video shows a vandal picking up a rock and throwing it forcefully at a first-floor courthouse window. When the rock bounces off, the vandal picks it up a dozen more times, throwing it at several windows.

McCane was arrested in the incident on March 30, 2022, and spent more than a month in jail before she was released. But in August 2022, she was again arrested after she had not appeared for a pretrial hearing. Her lawyer, however, told a judge that McCane did not receive notice of the court date by mail as she had expected. He said her absence was not an attempt to run.
