WHAT: Board of Education meeting Thursday

PRESENT: Mark Zuppo, Vincent Ragozine, Diane Alejars, Sue Ellen Davis and Joseph Datchuk

The board:

• Accepted the retirement resignations of Leslie Limbian, high school history/ Spanish teacher with 21 years; Martin O’Leary, high school English teacher with 27 years.; and Jonette Wilson, cafeteria manager with 10 years, all effective June 1.Superintendent Bryan O’Hara said Wilson worked during the pandemic to make sure students had breakfasts and lunches;

• Approved the 2023-24 school year calendar with first day for students Aug. 22 and last day May 23, 2024;

• Accepted the resignation of Christine Johnstone, first-grade teacher, effective Feb. 10;

• Approved an agreement with St. Rose School to provide Title 1 supplemental services;

• Approved Mitchell Gillespie as a school psychologist intern covered by grant funds;

• Approved seeking bids for a 78-passenger school bus body and chassis through the Ohio Schools Council.

PRESENT: Diane Alejars, Mark Zuppo, Vincent Ragozine, Sue Ellen Davis, and Joseph Datchuk

The Board:

• Heard from Zuppo that officials will meet with Axiom Architects over the planned performing arts center at the high school, with a report to the board set for the February board meeting. The district has discussed a center to be used for school programs and plays and high school graduation;

• Hired Erica Conway as a kindergarten teacher on a one-year contract for the remainder of the school year;

• Approved an independent contractor agreement with Proactive Behavior Services for providing assessments, development and implementation and training of behavioral and educational programs and working with students;

• Approved the district to be a member of the Ohio Schools Council for receiving bids for a78-passenger conventional school bus chassis and body;

• Approved Brittaney Mann as a substitute nurse at $15 per hour.
