Man threatens bus terminal

Staff Report

YOUNGSTOWN — A man was arrested at the Western Reserve Transit Authority downtown terminal after allegedly threatening to blow up the bus station.

Matthew Carvin, 54, of Willis Avenue was arrested around 3:30 p.m. Saturday after police were called to the downtown terminal at 304 W. Federal St. on reports of an intoxicated man arguing with WRTA staff and customers.

According to a police report, Carvin has been charged with disorderly conduct and aggravated assault.

The report states the Mahoning County jail would not take Carvin because of his level of drunkenness, so officers took him to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

A security officer at the bus terminal told police Carvin had been yelling and threatening him, arguing with other customers and threatened to blow up the station. The police report states the man continued to be hostile toward police, as well as hospital staff.
