YOUNGSTOWN — Choffin Career and Technical Center is celebrating the contributions and achievements of African Americans for Black History Month.

The career / tech center also is raising awareness about the value of career and technical education. Career and Technical Education Month runs through February with various events for students.

Throughout the month, stakeholders, area business leaders and local officials are scheduled to visit Choffin’s high school program labs and tour the building in addition to a number of educational and cultural events for students:

• 9 a.m. Thursday, presentation from junior Choffin Music Production and Recording students.

• 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Zeta sorority presentation.

• 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Feb. 16: Presentation from junior and senior Choffin cosmetology students.

• 9 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Feb. 23: Harambee Youth Organization performance.

Event photographs will be posted to Choffin’s social media platforms, as well as the center’s new website.
