STATE CHAMPIONS X 2: Canfield, South Range soar in title games

CANTON — Canfield and South Range high schools both concluded their football seasons Friday in thrilling fashion, as the Cardinals and Raiders won state championships in Division III and Division V, respectively.
Canfield (14-1) led wire to wire in a 35-14 victory over Bloom-Carroll.
The Cardinal defense gave up just 69 yards rushing to a Bulldog team that had amassed 4,231 yards on the ground entering the contest, while quarterback Broc Lowry scored five touchdowns for the offense.
South Range (16-0) handed Ironton its first loss with a dominating 53-27 win over the Tigers.
The Raiders racked up 564 yards of offense as quarterback Billy Skripac scored six touchdowns. He completed 13 of 25 passes for 331 yards and three touchdowns and added 12 rushes for 59 yards and three scores on the ground.
The championships are the first in the history of each program.
