YOUNGSTOWN — The U.S. Marshals Service has arrested Patrick R. Jiles, 37, of Parkman Road NW in Warren, on a felonious assault charge and placed him in the Mahoning County jail.

The charge stems from an incident just before 6 p.m. Nov. 24 on Curry Place on the North Side in which Jiles is accused of assaulting another man with a baseball bat.

Police were called to the home for a fight and met with a woman, 45, with a Warren address and a city man, 30. The man had a large lump and cut to the left side of his head that was bleeding.

The woman said when she and the man arrived at her home, they found Jiles, her ex-boyfriend, waiting outside for them. He had a baseball bat and approached the man with it, a police report states.

The two men fought over the bat and fell to the ground, and the bat was knocked out of Jiles’ hands, the police report states. The woman tried to grab the bat, but Jiles grabbed it and swung it at the other man, hitting him in the face and head.

The woman said Jiles swung it intentionally at the other man’s head, the report states.

The man with the injury “appeared to be shaky and couldn’t remember basic information,” so they called an ambulance. The man refused to be transported to the hospital, but the woman said she would take him to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition, according to the police report.

Police filed a felonious assault charge on Jiles Nov. 29 in Youngstown Municipal Court.

He will appear in court for a preliminary hearing on Dec. 15, court records show.
