Canfield thrashes Bloom-Carroll, wins 1st state title

CANTON — Canfield won its first state championship in program history Friday with a 35-14 win over Bloom-Carroll at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton.

Senior quarterback Broc Lowry put on quite the show, scoring in all three phases of the offense as he recorded a passing, rushing, and receiving touchdown. He finished the game with 285 total yards and five total touchdowns.

Coming into Friday, the Bulldogs had rushed for 4,231 yards this season and the Cardinals limited them to 69 total rushing yards and leading rusher Dylan Armentrout only rushed for 61 yards.

The Cardinals’ defense was stout all night long. They forced two turnovers and tallied two sacks and three tackles for a loss. In the end, the Cardinals finished with 366 total yards and scored on five of their eight drives.
