Family of homicide victim offering reward

$10,000 available for information

YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown Police Department on Wednesday announced a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the indictment and conviction of all individuals involved in the killing of Aaron L. Rogers III, 29, of Youngstown.

The reward is being offered by the family of Rogers.

Rogers was killed about 10 p.m. Oct. 7 on East Evergreen Avenue near Erie Street on the South Side. He had been shot several times.

Officers dispatched to the scene discovered that Rogers had been shot. Rogers was transported to the hospital and died from his injuries.

A second man, also in his 20s, who was with Rogers, also was shot but survived. Officers found numerous bullet shell casings at the scene. They were alerted to the shootings by a ShotSpotter notification, which alerts Youngstown police to gunfire on the South Side.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting is asked to call Detective Bailey at 330-742-8151 or Crime Stoppers at 330-746-CLUE.

Four detectives, the crime scene unit and the police chief responded to the two South Side locations connected to the shootings and went to the hospital, along with the coroner’s office, according to a police report just after the killing. Detectives were working throughout the evening on what they called a “complex series of scenes.”

Rogers’ death was the 20th homicide of the year in Youngstown. There were 30 homicides in 2021.

Starting at $3.23/week.
