Loaded gun confiscated from middle-school girl on Youngstown school bus

Staff report

YOUNGSTOWN ä A student from St. Joseph the Provider School in Youngstown was found with a loaded gun on a school bus Monday afternoon while students were being taken home.

Monsignor John Zuraw, vicar general of the Diocese of Youngstown, said he spoke to school officials.

The female middle-school student was on a school bus when the bus driver became aware of the gun. The driver, who was taking students home on the cityás North Side, was able to confiscate the gun from the student, Zuraw said.

The bus driver notified Youngstown police and school officials.

He said the matter is being handled further by the school administration and local law enforcement.
