Indictment issued in West Side robbery

Christopher M. Thompson faces 15 years in jailYOUNGSTOWN — Christopher M. Thompson, 38, of Tangent Street, was indicted Thursday on several charges in the June 8 robbery of a man, 78, on Roy Street on the West Side. Thompson was indicted on aggravated robbery with a gun specification and repeat violent offender specification; grand theft when the property is a firearm or dangerous ordnance; being in possession of a firearm while not allowed; and grand theft of a motor vehicle with a gun specification. If convicted, Thompson could get about 15 years in prison. A passing motorist came to the aid of the bloodied man after he was assaulted at 3 p.m. at his home in the 2100 block of Roy Street, according to a police report. When police arrived, they found him bleeding heavily from his left ear and forearm. The passing motorist said he was driving by when he saw the victim and stopped to help. YOUNGSTOWN — Christopher M. Thompson, 38, of Tangent Street, was indicted Thursday on several charges in the June 8 robbery of a man, 78, on Roy Street on the West Side.

Thompson was indicted on aggravated robbery with a gun specification and repeat violent offender specification; grand theft when the property is a firearm or dangerous ordnance; being in possession of a firearm while not allowed; and grand theft of a motor vehicle with a gun specification.

If convicted, Thompson could get about 15 years in prison.

A passing motorist came to the aid of the bloodied man after he was assaulted at 3 p.m. at his home in the 2100 block of Roy Street, according to a police report.

When police arrived, they found him bleeding heavily from his left ear and forearm. The passing motorist said he was driving by when he saw the victim and stopped to help. The victim said he thought he had been struck with a flashlight.

He told police he allowed Thompson to stay a couple of days at his home, and they got into an argument over a handgun. That’s when Thompson started beating the older man with an unknown object, the victim told police.

Thompson took the revolver, ammunition and the victim’s Chevrolet pickup and left, the victim stated. The victim was taken by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

• Walter K. Pearson, 40, Mahoning County jail, three counts of domestic violence;

• Justin L. Fry-Starrett, 29, East Leasure Street, New Castle, Pa., domestic violence;

• Harry Stevenson, IV, 19, Mahoning County jail, robbery;

• Lauren J. Hanlon, 62, Mahoning Avenue, theft and misuse of credit cards;

• Henry Sears, 50, Mahoning County jail, two counts of theft and single counts of petty theft and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia;

• Lewis D. Brown, 33, Hillman Street, petty theft and two counts of theft;

• James G. Williams, 48, Mahoning County jail, two counts of theft and single counts of petty theft, illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal trespass;

• Hiram Diaz, 56, Calla Road, Salem, gross sexual imposition.
