POLAND TOWNSHIP — A Beaver Falls, Pa., man was arrested after a police pursuit that began in Pennsylvania ended in a crash on New Castle Road.

The series of events began Thursday afternoon on Oakville Road in Chippewa Township when police responded to a domestic dispute between a husband and wife arguing in their garage.

According to reports, Oscar Gaunt, 41, had a Glock 21 handgun and pointed it at the woman. Before police arrived, Gaunt fled in a black Chevrolet Silverado. The wife reported to police that before fleeing, Gaunt loaded his handgun, AR15 rifle and a shotgun and placed them in his truck.

Police agencies were able to ping Gaunt’s phone, determining his location to be in the area of a Sheetz fuel station in Union Township, Pa., Pennsylvania State Police and Lawrence County dispatch were notified.

State police at New Castle were able to locate the vehicle at the Hampton Inn in Union Township and attempted to stop it, according to a police report. Gaunt managed to evade police and sate police pursued him through Union Township into Poland Township.

The pursuit ended when Gaunt hit a Poland patrol car, a stop sign and ditch at the intersection of New Castle Road and Bedford Road, according to the police report. He refused to get out of the vehicle when prompted by police and in response guns were drawn before police pulled him out of his vehicle.

During the pursuit, Gaunt was seen by police discarding weapons out of the window that police are still looking to recover.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol charged Gaunt with OVI and failure to control.

Chippewa police charged him with with possession of a firearm, receiving stolen property, terriorist threats, disorderly conduct and reckless endangering.

Pennsylvania State Police have filed charges of fleeing and eluding.

Gaunt was uninjured and taken to Mahoning County jail.
