Missing 12-year-old found
YOUNGSTOWN — A 12-year-old boy who was reported missing was found safe, according to a news release Sunday from the Youngstown Police Department.
Capt. Jason Simon, chief of detectives, announced that Mason Thompson was found Sunday with friends and is now back in the care of his family. Simon credited the “hard work and diligence” of community members, the police Family Services Unit and patrol division in helping bring this incident to a quick resolution.
Mason left home Friday with a backpack intending to go to his dad’s house, but he didn’t make it. He was seen with an unknown person, report states.
