Man who posed as Ursuline student arraigned on felony

YOUNGSTOWN — Andru Davis, 18, was arraigned on inducing panic, a high-level felony, accused of walking into Ursuline High School on Friday while not a student.

He also was arraigned on misdemeanor criminal trespass.

Judge Renee DiSalvo of Youngstown Municipal Court set bond at $15,000 on Monday for the inducing panic charge, for which Davis could get several years in prison if convicted. He pleaded not guilty to the misdemeanor trespass charge. No plea was required on the felony.

Davis posted bond Monday and was released from the Mahoning County jail.

Youngstown police said Davis walked into the school Friday, went into a restroom and put on a jersey resembling an Ursuline shirt, although his motive was unclear.

School officials recognized him as someone who wasn’t a student, so the school was locked down as a precaution.

Police said he did not have a weapon, and no one was under any threat. Ursuline Principal Matthew Sammartino said the lockdown lasted about 10 minutes. School officials said he was found within minutes and taken into custody.

An email went out to students and staff informing them that Youngstown police were called regarding the incident.

Starting at $3.23/week.
