Petition to remove Trumbull commissioner gets little support

Commissioner says Trumbull employees seek to oust her

WARREN — A year-old petition on the Change.org website to remove Trumbull County Commissioner Niki Frenchko from office has received relatively little support, as it has only 95 electronic signatures.

The petition was placed on Change.org by Tamara Welker. According to the website, it needs a minimum of 100 signatures to be moved to the site’s recommendations sections.

“We need commissioners to actually work from county offices,” the website petition states. “She is a disrespectful person to deal with and refuses to answer questions by constituents by blocking them.”

It accuses Frenchko of causing more disruption and drama within the commissioners’ office, and states nothing seems to be accomplished other than her constant accusations of being mistreated and ducking responsibility.

“This needs to end and the only way to do so is to sign this petition for her removal from office,” the petition notes. “We as taxpayers deserve so much better than this. You as voters can sign this to bring some action to end this reign of terror she has inflicted on the staff of the Trumbull County Commissioners Office.”

An effort to reach Welker was unsuccessful.

Asked last week whether she had seen the petition to have her removed from office, Frenchko noted she personally had not.

“I can tell you that the main circulators are Trumbull County employees,” Frenchko said. “This is contrary to the (state) revised code and contrary to our county policies.”

Frenchko noted she has on several occasions requested the staff be investigated for misconduct.

“So long as it is directed toward me they don’t do anything about it,” Frenchko said. “Effectively, I’ve upset the apple cart and have been asking for accountability. This is further evidence that there has been a concerted effort to get rid of me.”
