YOUNGSTOWN -- Police detectives said an early Wednesday incident is not related to one down the block at an East Midlothian Boulevard business in which a 25-year-old man was fatally shot Tuesday.
"It is not related. It is an incident on its own, and it's still being investigated and worked on," Lt. Mohammad Awad told the newspaper Wednesday about the police presence at a South Side home.
Officers heard gunfire and responded to that house on East Philadelphia Avenue near Zedaker Street shortly before 5 a.m. Wednesday. According to a report, two children and a woman were hiding from a man in the home.
Awad said the man tried to escape, and officers were able to apprehend him and take the weapon.
"We are processing the scene for evidence," Awad said.
The Mahoning County jail did not report the name of the man booked in or if any charges were filed.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
Meanwhile, no arrests have been made in the shooting death of the 25-year-old man and the wounding of three others outside the Vibez Restaurant and Event Center at 914 E. Midolothian Blvd. The deceased has been identified by the Mahoning County Coroner's Office as Marquan White.
An autopsy of White was conducted at the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's office. The coroner's office and detectives were continuing their investigation Wednesday.
A spokesperson for Vibez told a media outlet the shooting occurred in the parking lot after a Monday night event that drew about 300 people to the banquet hall.
An eyewitness said there was no argument or commotion. A vehicle pulled out and some men on the back fence line of the property were involved. The witness said the shooting happened at close range. When the shooting happened, a report stated about 60 people were in the parking lot.
Reports show police found White was shot multiple times and lying on the ground. He was taken by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital were he was later pronounced dead. As they investigated, officers were told three other victims were taken to the hospital by vehicles.
Of the other victims, a 26-year-old man was last reported in critical condition, while two others -- a man, 19, and a woman, 20 -- were stable, the report states.
