Free composting offered to Boardman residents
BOARDMAN — Trustees in cooperation with Elliott’s Garden Center are providing free composting for township residents.
Boardman residents can drop off grass clippings, brush, tree trimmings and leaves 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the garden center, 1283 W. Western Reserve Road.
All days and times are weather permitting.
Yard waste must be unloaded into the appropriate separate piles for grass, leaves and brush.
The following recycling guidelines are established:
l All plastic bags must be emptied and plastic discarded;
l Mixed loads are not allowed. Also not accepted are trash, plastic, glass, metal, concrete, railroad ties, landscape fabric, rocks or food waste;
l Acceptable brush must be 4 feet or less in length and less than 6 inches in diameter;
l All residents must stop at the office to sign in before dumping. Anyone not keeping to the guidelines will be asked to leave and to not return;
l A dumping fee will be charged for tree trunks, logs and stumps 6 inches in diameter or larger.
l Trunks and logs need to be cut in segments not exceeding 30 inches in length.
