Woman sentenced to 15 months for assault

YOUNGSTOWN — Vivian E. Warren, 55, was sentenced to 15 months in prison Tuesday after pleading guilty to aggravated assault.

Warren was indicted on felonious assault but pleaded guilty to the lesser charge to resolve her case before Judge Maureen Sweeney of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court. Warren had been scheduled for trial Tuesday morning.

Police said Warren showed up at a home in the 1000 block of Gray Street on the East Side on May 25, 2021, and argued with a man who lives there. Warren and the man said the argument was over food, prosecutors said.

During the argument, Warren hit the man in the top of his head with a hammer. The victim walked to a nearby Youngstown fire station and was taken to the hospital for treatment, but was not admitted to the hospital.
