Man arrested in W. Side murder

YOUNGSTOWN — The U.S. Marshals Service arrested Robert L. Weaver III, 37, Tuesday on a murder charge in connection with the Feb. 21 shooting death of Lamar Reed, 22.

If convicted, Weaver could get a life prison sentence. Reed does not yet have an arraignment date in Youngstown Municipal Court, but a murder charge was filed against him Tuesday in that court.

Reed’s body was found at Donald and North Belle Vista avenues on the West Side Feb. 21.

Youngstown police and ambulance personnel found Reed dead from at least one gunshot wound. The killing was the third homicide of the year.

Weaver has a felony aggravated vehicular assault case pending in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court for an Aug. 13, 2020, head-on crash on U.S. Route 422 in Youngstown.

In that case, he is alleged to have crossed over the center line and hit another vehicle head-on, badly injuring a passenger in his vehicle and the driver of the other vehicle. The crash occurred a short time after a Coitsville Township police officer ended a high-speed chase.

The crash report by the highway patrol stated that Kimberly Jackson, 44, of Youngstown, driver of the other vehicle, suffered two broken legs, one broken knee, a shattered pelvis and a broken hip and her vehicle was destroyed. The damage was described as being the “entire front end,” windshield and driver side front and rear doors.

Weaver also suffered two broken legs, and his passenger, Dionandre D. Etheridge, 38, of Youngstown, suffered one broken leg and multiple lacerations. The damage to the rental car Weaver was driving was similar to that of Jackson’s car, the patrol said.
