City woman released six months early from prison

YOUNGSTOWN — Tabrasia M. Gray, 22, was released from the last six months of her prison term Tuesday after Judge Maureen Sweeney of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court granted her judicial release.

Sweeney sentenced Gray to 21 months in prison in March with credit for about a year already served in the Mahoning County jail awaiting trial. She had served about three of the nine months she had left when she was approved for judicial release.

Gray pleaded guilty in December to tampering with evidence with a gun specification, felony assault and intimidation for an incident at a Boardman motel in March 2021 in which she tried to hide a gun between her legs. Police came to the motel after finding a man behind a nearby closed business who had baggies of marijuana, pills and a white powder on him.

The man told officers the reason he was behind the business was because he was on the way to a store and had to hurry to get back to the Town and County motel on Market Street in Boardman.

Officers went to the motel, and Gray answered the door. They arrested her when they discovered she was trying to conceal a loaded gun between her legs as she walked to the bathroom.

Her sentence was also for a separate incident at the Mahoning County jail, where she spit on a jailer after she was arrested.

Starting at $3.23/week.
