Campbell police ID woman found dead in trash bags
CAMPBELL — Police have identified the woman found dead on the side of Hickory Street wrapped in trash bags as Linda Bennett, 40, of Youngstown.
Her body was found by a 58-year-old man as he was driving in a residential area. He could not immediately see what he was looking at because the body was left in a wooded area across from a neighborhood with poor lighting.
So, the man called police and said he had not touched anything at the scene. Campbell police were sent to the area at 1:15 a.m. Tuesday.
The body was less than a mile and a half from Campbell Memorial High School.
Police found the woman’s body on its side, the police report states. A trash bag was around the lower part of her body, and a ripped trash bag was near the upper portion. Her face, arms and stomach were badly bruised.
Emergency medical services were summoned, as was a coroner’s office examiner.
Police collected evidence, including a green cloth rag and a plastic Gatorade bottle. The investigation is ongoing.
As for Bennett’s cause of death, the coroner’s office said an autopsy is scheduled, but a full report will not be completed for at least a couple of months.
Bennett was not listed in the Ohio Missing Persons database.
