Woman stabbed at city bar
Police also probe car theft
YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown Police Department investigated one stabbing and an armed robbery late this week.
A woman said she was stabbed at Down the Hatch bar on Mahoning Avenue on the West Side early Friday, and a man was robbed at 7:55 p.m. Thursday on Benita Avenue on the North Side.
Police spoke to two people at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital at 2:41 a.m. Friday and learned that the victim, a city woman, 42, was at the bar at 3101 Mahoning Ave. when she was stabbed in the shoulder, abdomen and hip.
She was in stable condition later, police said.
Officers spoke to the victim’s husband, who said the stabbing followed “some sort of altercation,” and he thought his wife had just fallen.
Police also spoke to a woman who said, “All I did was grab her hair.” That woman named another woman as being involved. Neither that woman nor the victim’s husband provided much information, police said.
ARMED ROBBERY
Officers also were sent to a home on Benita Avenue Thursday night for an armed robbery of a car.
When officers got there, they spoke to a man and woman who said they were “sitting in the back” of the home at 7:55 p.m. and saw that two men were walking nearby wearing black ski masks.
Both were believed to be in their mid-20s. The two men approached them and pulled out handguns and demanded the keys to the woman’s 2008 silver Chevrolet Malibu that was parked in the driveway.
The two men got in the car and drove away.
