YOUNGSTOWN -- Three people were in stable condition Monday after early Sunday shootings on Samuel Avenue on the South Side.
The shootings occurred on the same block where a 10-year-old girl was fatally shot in her home last August.
Wounded about 3 a.m. Sunday were Cora Harris, 40, of Palmer Avenue; Jamya Elizabeth, 20, of Palmer Avenue; and Amerah Green, 19, of Madera Avenue. No arrests have been made, according to police Capt. Jason Simon.
Officers interviewed two of the victims at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital trauma center. Green told officers she was shot twice as she was in the block of Samuel in between South Avenue and Gibson Street. After the shooting, the report states, Green ran to a Miller Street address before she was taken to the hospital.
Harris told officers she and her daughter were at the Shell gas station on South Avenue when she heard the gunfire. They went toward the sound and each ended up being shot twice.
A police report showed a red Dodge Ram pickup truck had its motor running but was unoccupied, and located in the driveway of 628 Samuel. Another Ram pickup, parked at 619 Samuel, was struck on the driver's side door by a bullet, while bullet holes were also found at the home at 624 Samuel, the report states.
Officers found spent shell casings in front of the red Ram pickup and near the front porch of 624 Samuel. Two spent rifle casing and one live round were found in the driveway of 628 Samuel, the report states.
Also taken as evidence were four phones of various makes and models, the report states.
It was at the home of 619 Samuel Ave. that Persayus Davis-May, 10, was shot to death last August and three others had minor gunshot wounds. At the time, police speculated the shooting was part of a family feud. The shooting triggered outrage from the community and city officials.
It was not known if the latest shooting had any tie to that August fatality.
