Liberty resident sentenced in drug case
WARREN — A Liberty man received an indefinite prison term of two to three years on Wednesday after pleading guilty to a second-degree aggravated possession of drugs charge connected to a May 12, 2021, traffic stop in the 4400 block of Belmont Avenue.
Naem Shihadeh, 26, of 262 Richards Drive, also will face supervision for a period of 18 months to three years after he is released from prison, according to Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge W. Wyatt McKay.
Shihadeh didn’t say anything prior to sentencing.
Prosecutors said Shihadeh’s vehicle was pulled over on a warrant May 12, 2021. During an inventory of the vehicle, Liberty police officers found substances that later tested to be 17.15 grams of methamphetamine.
Another Liberty traffic stop brought Anietra L. Frost, 25, of 1811 Elm St., Youngstown, to court Wednesday. She pleaded guilty to two counts aggravated possession of drugs and one count possession of drugs. The fifth-degree felonies all carry potential six-month to 12-month prison terms.
McKay will sentence Frost after she undergoes a background investigation conducted by county probation officers.
Frost’s case involved a July 30, 2021, stop by Liberty police at the corner of Loganway and Colonial Drive, prosecutors said. Frost was stopped because of a warrant. During a search of her vehicle, police found various items that later tested to be narcotics, including 1.1 grams of methamphetamine and 6.23 grams of benzodiazepines
Frost remains free after posting 10 percent of a $5,000 bond, court records show.
In other cases involving drug-related charges:
l Jermaine F. Gary Jr., 30, 2456 Milton St. SE, Warren, pleaded guilty to a fourth-degree possession of a fentanyl-related compound charge. Gary, who could get up to 18 months in prison, will be sentenced after he undergoes a background investigation conducted by probation officers. Gary remains free on a personal bond, records show.
Prosecutors said Gary was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped March 10, 2021, by Howland police at Elmwood Drive and North River Road. While police office were searching the vehicle, they noticed that Gary had dropped a plastic bag while he stood outside the vehicle smoking a cigarette. The baggie carried a substance that later tested for 3.86 grams of fentanyl, reports stated.
l Dierre Dillowrth, 25, of Belle Street SE, Warren, pleaded guilty to possession of fentanyl-related compound and will be sentenced after she undergoes a background investigation by probation officers. Dillworth, who could face between six months and 12 months in prison, was part of an investigation conducted by the sheriff’s TAG task force in December 2020.
l Ronald R. Butler, 26, of Heather Lane NW, Warren, received a 30-day jail sentence after pleading guilty to a probation violation connected to an earlier conviction of drug possession charges. The probation officer also recommended Butler receive residential treatment for his drug problem once he is released from jail on May 25.
McKay agreed to give Butler credit for time already served in the case.
