Evangelist Franklin Graham, known worldwide, is coming to Youngstown this fall.

Information on the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association’s website states he will be here Sept. 27. But a call to the association in Charlotte, N.C., did not provide additional details, such as the venue.

“No, we don’t have any additional info on that yet,” a woman at the association said Friday afternoon. But she did say such events are usually at large venues “because of so many people there … usually in the thousands.”

No such event is now listed at local venues.

Commentator and author Franklin Graham is president and CEO of the association and of Samaritan’s Purse, an international Christian relief organization. He is a son of the late American evangelist Billy Graham.

The association, in an article, states Franklin Graham will travel across the heart of America to share good news in troubled times.

The six-city God Loves You Tour kicks off Sept. 24 and wraps up Oct. 2. Stops include Allentown and York, Pa; Youngstown; Flint, Mich.; Waukesha, Wis.; and Rochester, Minn.

“At each one-night evangelistic event, Franklin Graham will give a message of lasting hope. The free tour includes live music from Newsboys and Marcos Witt in select cities,” according to the association.

“There has never been more of a time when people need to know that God loves them,” explained Steve Rhoads, vice president of church ministry for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, in the article. “It is a rescue mission, even for people who don’t know that they need to be rescued. All of us do. Rescued from our circumstances, rescued from ourselves.”

“America is in desperate need of our prayers,” Franklin Graham said in the article. “Open hostility toward the truth of God’s Word seems to grow stronger all the time in every area of society. I want to share a straightforward Gospel message with people. Please begin lifting up these evangelistic events to the Lord.”
