Three indicted in two killings
YOUNGSTOWN — A Mahoning County grand jury indicted Johnnie McCall, 31, in the Dec. 12, 2021, shooting death of Calvin Moore, 27, near the Vibe nightclub.
Also, three people have been indicted in the Dec. 30, 2021, shooting death of a man at a West Side apartment complex.
McCall was arraigned in mid-December in Youngstown Municipal Court on a felonious assault charge in the shooting. His case was bound over to a Mahoning County grand jury Dec. 22. But Moore died in late December after spending several weeks in the hospital in critical condition.
Youngstown police said Moore was found shot in a car in the parking lot of the Vibe nightclub, 914 E. Midlothian Blvd.
Capt. Jason Simon of the Youngstown Police Department said after the shooting there was a large party of about 300 people inside the nightclub, but there were “no problems in the bar.”
McCall was indicted on aggravated murder with a gun specification and repeat violent offender specification; two counts of murder with a gun specification and repeat violent offender specification; felonious assault with a gun specification, repeat violent offender specification and notice of prior conviction; being a felon in possession of a firearm with a gun specification; and carrying a concealed weapon.
Also indicted Thursday on aggravated murder are Marquez D. Thomas, 24 and his sister, C’Mone Thomas, 22, in the shooting death of Joseph Addison, 42, at an apartment complex on Tyrell Avenue on the West Side Dec. 30.
Addison was killed and three others were wounded in an early-morning episode.
Wounded were two men, 34 and 21, and a woman, 26. The shootings were reported at 4:30 a.m.
Marquez Thomas’s address is the Mahoning County jail. C’Mone Thomas’s address is Tyrell Street, according to Mahoning County Common Pleas Court records.
On Jan. 7, the U.S. Marshal’s Service and Youngstown Police Department sought the public’s help in finding C’Mone Thomas in connection to the Addison killing.
Marquez Thomas has been in the county jail since Dec. 30, but C’Mone Thomas is apparently still at large.
