County mental health board launches new scholarship

The Mahoning County Mental Health and Recovery Board is launching a new scholarship program aimed to increase minority representation in the social work and mental health fields.

The Youngstown Chapter of the Links Incorporated Mental Health Studies Scholarship will distribute $5,000 each year to African-American students pursuing a degree in social work at Youngstown State University with full-time students receiving $1,000 and part-time students receiving $500. Eligible students must have a 2.5 GPA, be a traditional or nontraditional student, be of African-American descent, attend or plan to attend Youngstown State University, reside in Mahoning County and complete the application process.
