WARREN -- A reported deal for sex that went sour at a Liberty motel in May turned into an indefinite two- to three-year prison sentence Thursday for a Bristolville woman.
Kayla R. Judson, 30, of North Park Avenue, pleaded guilty to second-degree robbery and burglary charges before Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Ronald J. Rice, who sentenced the woman to two-to-three-years in prison.
Judson, before sentencing, said she took full responsibility for her actions and wanted to thank the judge for revoking her bond several weeks ago so she could go to Trumbull County jail and sober up. At an Oct. 28, 2021 pretrial hearing, Judson failed a drug test and was sent by Rice to jail.
Judson admitted to helping a co-defendant break into a room at the Rodeway Inn in Liberty Township on May 21, 2021, to assault and rob a 37-year-old Youngstown man.
Prosecutors said Judson and the man had been having a pay-for-sex deal, but this time the man refused to go along. The angered woman then called her brother and another man, prosecutors said, and she held the hotel door open for the two men to come in and assault the victim and then rob him of a cellphone.
A police report showed the woman and the assailants left in a red vehicle that was later spotted by authorities at Judson's North Park Avenue home. Judson, Lynn E. Johnson, 49, of the same address, and Jason Smith, 26, of Warren, were all arrested on May 21 and charged in the assault and robbery.
Court records show that Johnson's charges were dismissed by prosecutors on Oct. 25.
Smith, of Thomas Road SE, who is free after posting a $25,000 bond, faces a Dec. 7 pretrial hearing on assault and robbery charges before Judge Andrew D. Logan.
