Roosters come to Boardman for holiday showing

BOARDMAN — The “Flock to the Fairgrounds” community art project, consisting of 21 6-foot-tall rooster statues, is on display for the public this holiday season.

These colorful roosters were created by local artists and sponsored by local businesses. Among them is The Vindicator-sponsored rooster by the newspaper’s editorial cartoonist Rick Muccio. It’s titled, “Good Morning, Mahoning County.”

The Shops at Boardman Park has donated the use of space that was formerly Party Max on the east side of the plaza. The display is free and open to the public Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m.

The rooster statues will be auctioned on March 26, 2022, at the Canfield Fairgrounds in honor of the 175th Canfield Fair that was held in September.
