WARREN -- A 29-year-old Salem woman who taught at a Mahoning County technical school pleaded guilty Monday to one count of sexual battery involving an inappropriate relationship with a former student.
Christina Sosbe of Mound Street, Salem, appeared for a plea hearing Monday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court with her attorney, Justin Weatherly. Judge Peter J. Kontos will sentence Sosbe after she undergoes a background investigation by the adult probation department.
Sosbe's plea deal had two other counts of sexual battery dropped in exchange for the one guilty plea. She faces a possible maximum 60-month prison sentence.
Sosbe was indicted in May and shortly after, U.S. Marshals picked her up on the sealed charge in North Carolina.
Prosecutors said she is accused of having sex with a former student who was a juvenile at the time. The offense, which took place in December 2018, occurred at a downtown Warren hotel.
According to Ohio Department of Education records, Sosbe's license to teach math was revoked permanently last year. At the time of the offense, she was not employed by Choffin Career Center but worked at the school for an organization called Pace.
Sosbe was allowed to remain free on the county's pretrial release program where defendants are subject to random drug tests.
The investigation was conducted by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
