Youngstown police to get $44,903 traffic safety grant

YOUNGSTOWN — The police department has received $44,903 from the Ohio Department of Public Safety to focus on driver safety areas, including seat belt use, impaired driving, motorcycle safety and youth driving.

“Based on crash data, speed, impaired driving, and seat belt use are priorities for Youngstown and we are committed to working with our partners at the state level to address this safety issue,” said police Chief Carl Davis.

Funding was awarded to projects that have the greatest impact on reducing fatal crashes or significantly improving traffic safety systems.
