Mahoning auditor’s sale of forfeited land set for Sept. 22

YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning County Auditor’s Office will hold a sale of forfeited land at 10 a.m. Sept. 22 in the commissioners’ hearing room in the basement of the Mahoning County Courthouse.

The parcels in the sale have been offered at two sheriff sales and were not sold. The properties are then forfeited to Ohio for the auditor to sell as an agent of the state, said Auditor Ralph Meacham.

Bidders must pre-register three forms by 4:30 p.m. Thursday in order to bid on properties in this sale.

Affidavits must be notarized before submitting. No notary is available in the Mahoning County Courthouse. Notarized forms can be submitted in person or by mail, but postmarks of Thursday or after will not be accepted. Emails will not be accepted.

“I encourage anyone who may be interested in purchasing a property to review the information on our website as this is a buyer beware sale,” Meacham said.

The list of parcels being offered for sale, rules of the sale and the preregistration packet can be found at www.mahoningcountyoh.gov/887/Forfeited-Sale/

“The county auditor does not give any representation regarding possession, eviction, prior inspection, scheduled demolition, health code violation or any other matter,” Meacham stated in a news release.
