Bond revoked for man in 2nd Youngstown fleeing case

Staff report

YOUNGSTOWN — Judge Anthony Donofrio of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court revoked bond for a city man now charged with two cases of fleeing police, one of them involving a crash that killed a former Youngstown State University football player.

At the request of Mahoning County prosecutors, the judge revoked bond for Adrienne D. Washington Jr., 20, of Hudson Avenue after Hudson was arrested Saturday afternoon, accused of starting a vehicle and foot chase on the South Side.

He was arraigned Monday in Youngstown Municipal Court on felony fleeing and eluding and drug possession and misdemeanor obstructing official business.

In that incident, a Youngstown police officer and Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper were patroling the South Side as part of a resource-sharing effort aimed at reducing violence in the city when they spotted Washington’s car failing to signal for a turn.

They tried to make a traffic stop, but Washington fled, nearly crashing into another vehicle before Washington fled the car on foot but was captured.

In February, Washington is alleged to have fled at high speed and crashed into a car driven by former YSU football player Darius Shackleford, 24, as it traveled into the intersection of McGuffey Road and Oak Street, killing Shackleford.
