Man indicted in hospital attack

YOUNGSTOWN — Justin G. Traylor, 48, was indicted Thursday on two counts of felonious assault and single counts of abduction, obstructing official business and resisting arrest for a July 17 incident at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital in which he is accused of sticking two hospital personnel with a needle.

Traylor, whose address is the Mahoning County jail, was a patient at the hospital and was having blood drawn when he snatched the syringe a phlebotomist was using and held her against a wall with the needle to her neck, according to a police report.

He stuck the phlebotomist and a male nurse after the male nurse came to the phlebotomist’s aid. Traylor is also accused of fighting with police who responded to the episode.

Traylor is expected to be arraigned on the charges in about two weeks in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court. If convicted, he could get about 25 years in prison.

A Mahoning County grand jury also indicted the following:

• Juan A. Leonard, 33, Tyrell Avenue, being a felon in possession of a firearm, improperly handing firearms in a motor vehicle, aggravated drug possession, fentanyl-related compound possession and aggravated drug possession;

• Larry G. Bates, 50, Tamerac Drive, Newton Falls, using weapons while intoxicated;

• Aaron D. Sugar, 24, Mahoning County jail, drug possession and aggravated drug possession both with a specification of forfeiture of a gun in a drug case and a specification of forfeiture of money in a drug case;

• Isaiah B. Stevens, 24, Dale Street, grand theft when the property is a firearm or dangerous ordnance and burglary;

• James E. Coudriet, 38, Mahoning County jail, theft;

• Martierius R. Brown, 30, East Washington Street, New Castle, Pa., cocaine possession, fentanyl-related compound possession, heroin possession and aggravated drug possession.
